Gratitude November 23, 2006

I’m grateful for…

God. Oh, how my life has changed since I developed a meaningful relationship with God. I really began to get to know God in 1996 and it has been the best journey. God has helped me get through so many difficult times while giving me more blessings that I could ever imagine.

My husband. He is a wonderful man and caring father. He isn’t perfect; none of us are. But, he is good to us and works so hard. Thanks for being you, Andy.

My children. They push me to my limits, but have made me a much better person. I remember so many days when I felt like I would never have children. But, we have two beautiful children. I never dreamed it would be so hard to be a parent. It is hard. But, it is also the most rewarding job in the world. Ellie and Thomas have added so much to my life and I’m very proud to be their mother.

Family. My parents and my husbands’ parents are also wonderful blessings in our lives. After having my own children, it really makes me appreciate how much they have done for us. I haven’t seen my brother in a long time, but I’m so grateful for him. He has taught me so much and because of him I have become a much better person. Andy’s sister and her family are wonderful also. I’m so glad that my children have an aunt, uncle and cousins that are close to them. Andy and I have three grandmothers that are still very much a part of our family. Their example and love mean so much to us. And, our aunts, uncles, and cousins. Extended family is a blessing.

Friends. Wow…friends. I have a few close friends that I really treasure. You know who you are…you’ve shared the laughter, tears, fear, joy, etc. Wow. Thanks for sharing my life.

Xavier..our cat. He has been around for over 10 years. He has silently (and not so silently) been a part of much of my life. I love you baby kitty.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I’ve been too sleep deprived to post much. But, I’ll work on it. I don’t think anyone really reads, but I want to keep this up anyway. I know that I will enjoy reliving some of these times.

First of all..Happy Birthday to Grandma Jackson yesterday and to Hannah Ekblad today. We are celebrating later.

We’ve been busy, although I’m not sure what we’ve been doing, really. Just living life. Grandma Hilliard is still recovering. It has been a slow recovery for her. Wed. her doc told her that she will have at least 4-8 more weeks in her brace.

Yesterday, we went to see Grandma Mathis. She looked good. But, she is very tired. She is having problems with her heart and the only thing that would help is surgery. She is refusing the surgery. But, Ellie and Thomas had a good time playing at her house yesterday. Grandma and Grandpa Brooks met us there. I think we’ll try to visit there every 3 weeks or so as long as the weather is good and the kids are healthy.

Thomas is not talking too much yet, but he is still working on running and climbing. His fine motor skills are coming along well too. He loves wheels, doors, and buttons. He has said, “Ellie” a few times and she gets so excited when she hears him say her name.

Ellie is doing well too. She is growing up so fast and is so smart. She prefers to wear princess clothes everywhere we go.

Andy is starting to read essays again for the SAT so we’ll have a busy week. He usually puts in 8-10 hours on the weekend and 2 hours each week day. Then, he still has his school work to do at home also. Ugh.

I wish I had something humorous to end with. But, frankly, I’m tired. I didn’t get much sleep last night so my brain is a little foggy. Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Catching up… November 2, 2006

Yep, that’s right….Ellie has used the vacuum. Can you believe it? We have made such progress that last couple of months. She uses the potty and the vacuum. I’m so proud of my little (big) girl.

We’ve had a good couple of weeks. I haven’t been posting as much because I’ve had less computer time. Andy has worked his second job and Thomas is not very patient with me being at the computer. And, Ellie likes to have her share of computer time too.

Anyway, things are good. Grandma Hilliard is recovering at a Homeward Bound program. We went to see her yesterday. When she saw Thomas and Ellie, her whole face lit up. I believe that everybody enjoyed seeing the kids. Ellie wore her new Cinderella dress too. She was quite proud of herself, I think. Thomas was a hit too. He tried to push many of the wheel chairs himself. He is fascinated with wheels.

Thomas loved Halloween. He put on his costume, grabbed his bag and ran for the door. He thinks he is such a big kid and loves candy too. I think Ellie is a bit overstimulated by it all so we’ll spend tomorrow relaxing at home, I think. She was very demanding today. (I had a long day.)

Ok..bath time.
